Eulogies Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob held dear. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public personalities expressed different responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disturbing" and implied they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an aide could have stepped in when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
