Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.
The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Allegations Posted on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
